Systema - Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How long is a training session?

    Training sessions are two hours long, usually consisting of approximately 30 minutes of conditioning and the rest as combat training


  2. What should I wear?

    Wear a T-shirt, comfortable trousers that you can move in, comfortable track shoes. There is no set uniform for Systema.


  3. Do I need any special equipment in order to train?

    No. Just come down and join in with the training.


  4. Will I get hit at training?

    Systema is a full contact Martial Art. You will learn to take and give strikes.


  5. How is training conducted?

    Systema is a partner driven Martial Art, this means that you will be working with a partner at most times.


  6. Is Systema suitable for women?

    Yes, Systema is perfect for women.

    Systema is a martial art that relies on balance, movement, and an understanding of the body mechanics, amongst many other things.  A woman with understanding and training is able to controle an opponent larger and more powerful than themselves.
